i know diabetes can be frightening sometimes

and frustrating too

those lows can feel so bad

you don’t know if you’ll ever get through

sometimes diabetes really kicks us in the butt

and challenges us to the max

one thing right after another

it feels like it couldn’t be any worse..

but that’s when you’ve gotta say,

i’ve got this diabetes

I’ve got this!

sometimes diabetes really beats us up

and you might feel sad, crabby and miserable too

but you must be ready to say,

diabetes, you will NOT get the best of me

no matter how hard you seem to try!

some days diabetes will not cooperate

no matter what you do

these are the days i really lose my patience

and it takes a walk

or cuddle with my puppy

to get me through

but when things go smoothly

i don’t get woken up in the night

my bg’s stay within range

making me feel alright

these are the days i celebrate

the ones i really cherish

and make me feel like

everything is going to be alright

and it is

it really is!

you see i’ve been doing this 26 years now

a little longer than some

and what I’ve learned

is to keep on going

lift your chin

laugh as much as you can

find comfort in the things you love

because you’ve got this baby

you’ve got this!
