A poem for Tuesday: Cheek to Cheek

Last week I started a brand new series called, A poem for Tuesday. Well, it’s Tuesday — so here’s another poem for you!

A note about my poems…

I think we all know how much our feelings can shift from day to day with diabetes and even moment to moment. I hope you will keep this in mind when reading my poems. I work hard to be my positive, best self every day with this sometimes very demanding disease.

Cheek to Cheek

Diabetes, do you think I like you?

Well, I don’t

There, how does that feel?

A nice little kick in the face

like you so often do to me

Well don’t think I’m not keeping score

Because guess what?

I am!

But, the unfortunate thing is,

It feels like you are winning

(some of the time…)

And, I’m not a happy loser

So I will not give up!

It’s you and me ’til the end

Cheek to cheek

Fist to fist.

Got it?

Good.
