Editor's note: This post was written in the early hours of the morning last night after experiencing an unfavorable low blood sugar.
I just had one of “those” lows. You know the type I’m guessing.
Hello! I am sharing with you today my final two poems that I wrote in honor of Diabetes Art Day. As I have shared in earlier posts this week, I wrote quite unexpectedly five poems for Diabetes Art Day. I have been sharing one every day this week and today I bring you the last two.
Diabetes Art Day was on Monday this week. Unbeknownst to me, as I sat down with a pencil and paper, I had a few things to say. Five poems quickly poured out of me in a short period of time. This may be the one I resonate with on the deepest level.
As requested, here is another one of the poems I wrote for Diabetes Art Day yesterday. Read this post to read another one of my poems and learn more about Diabetes Art Day and my experience with it. I ended up writing about five poems for the occasion so I will be sharing one with you almost every day this week!
Hello and good morning! I posted Saturday on the Facebook page for Diabetes Light about Diabetes Art Day. I welcomed you to join in this exciting event. How many of you are participating? It is not too late. Lee Ann Thill, founder of Diabetes Art Day, says it can be a healing experience and it sure was for me!
If strength can be found in honesty and sharing, here goes…
This is my Dexcom graph for the last 12 hours.
She’s a real beauty, huh? Not exactly the kind of sugars you want to see — especially while attempting to get a good night’s rest!
Editor’s note: This was written last evening upon returning home from an enjoyable Friday night date with my sweetie.
There are some days that one can feel ever so thankful for having a loving and compassionate life partner/spouse. Today is one of those days for me. I realized tonight how thankful I am for my dear husband. Without a second thought, in three ways he made decisions that would allow me to have the best date night possible – keeping my health top priority. We all know how important this is in a life with diabetes.
Editor’s note: This post was written last evening after having the most luxurious experience at a restorative yoga class.
I just experienced a little slice of heaven tonight.
Restorative yoga.
Have you ever tried it? It is a definite must.
So Friday night I was getting really hungry for dinner but feeling pretty unmotivated to make it. This happens to you too, right? I was planning to reheat some leftover gluten free pasta and spaghetti sauce I had made the night before. But I wasn’t very enthused about it because I tried a new gluten free pasta this time and was not very fond of it. Lesson learned: always stick with Tinkyada brand gluten free pasta – it tastes much better!
Just as I was about to quit wasting time and get off Facebook start making dinner, someone posted a Pinterest recipe to Facebook. I clicked on it to see what it was. It immediately intrigued me. It simply said, cut a zucchini in half, add cherry tomatoes, cheese and fresh basil and bake. There were no specifics such as oven temperature or length of time to bake. I had several zucchini on their last leg in my fridge and some tomatoes not too far from that point either. I decided to give the recipe a try and this is what I came up with!
