Lessons from Jonah #1: enjoy the present moment

by Cynthia

We can learn so much by observing animals…

Jonah taking a moment to watch the birds.

Let us each take some time today to:

Stop what we are doing.

Pause.

Take in a few

deep,

restorative breaths

and…

enjoy the present moment.

Editor’s note: By adopting this practice in my own life — as I often notice a need to slow down and take in some deep breaths several times each day — I have experienced better blood sugar control, lower A1C’s and less swings in my blood sugars. I also feel calmer and more grounded, and do not get as uptight or bent out of shape when things don’t go as planned.

Jonah

Jonah is our sweet rescue dog. Age 2. (DOB: 3/6/10). Jonah (original name Boone) was rescued by Homeward Bound Dog Rescue. Jonah, his momma and 5 litter mates (all strays) were brought up to Minnesota from Kentucky at just 2 weeks old. We adopted him at 9 weeks old after falling in love with his adorable profile picture on Homeward Bound’s website. He loves cuddling, sprinting in large open areas (he is very beautiful to watch), chewing on one of his many toys or bones, eating and sleeping. Some of his favorite foods are apple cores, broccoli, lettuce and peanut butter. Jonah is a charmer with everyone he meets & somewhat resembles a little deer too. He is also very smart – reaching Level 4 dog training at the Animal Humane Society by age 6 months. We often get asked what kind of breed he is – so I recently had his genetic profile tested through his vet. We found out that he couldn’t be more of of mutt! Every single grandparent and parent is a mixed breed. He is my sweet boy. I’m happy to share his wisdom with you through the snapshots I capture of him in his everyday life. We hope you enjoy Jonah’s lessons & maybe learn a thing or two from him as well!

Blessings, light and love,

Cynthia

That is great advice for anyone! Jonah is very wise, and his editor isn’t shabby, either. I think I’ll have to remember your advice for everyday coping. Thanks for a great post!
